Karen Roze, owner of Sacred Rose Tattoo, is a Bay Area native who has been in the arts community since the 1980’s. After graduating with a BFA from CCA (California College of Arts and Crafts) in 1989, Karen began painting murals, doing graphic design, and exhibiting her paintings at various galleries in San Francisco including the Intersection for the Arts and The American Craft and Folk Art Museum at Fort Mason.

In 1992, Karen entered a formal tattoo apprenticeship with Richard Cyr at Picture Machine tattoo in San Francisco. It was here that she was able to learn from some of the best tattooers in the Bay Area at the time – including Laura Vida, Jef Whitehead, and Jamie Trujillo. From Tattoo City – Ed Hardy, Chris Cohn, and Dan Higgs. Karen also holds a tattoo license in the state of Hawaii. In Honolulu she was fortunate enough to get tattooed by the late Mike Malone, who also taught her how to paint tattoo flash.

Karen incorporates her passion and expertise in tattooing with a grounded and calm demeanor, ensuring a comfortable experience. Her intuitive artistic sensibilities provide the perfect custom artwork for original ideas. Karen excels in all styles of tattooing including Asian bodysuits, traditional, realistic color and black and grey. She is available by appointment only.
